For a used full-size pickup truck that provides a winning combination of class, style, ride quality and performance, the 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 is hard to beat. Continue reading to learn a bit more about this must-have truck.

Trim Levels

The 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 makes it easy to find exactly what you're looking for in a full-size pickup truck with its availability in multiple body styles, bed lengths and trim levels. Trim levels cover all the bases, providing all the basics and even some upscale niceties. If you're looking for a simple, “serves its purpose” sort of truck without much glitz or glam, the 2011 Ram 1500's base-level trim, the ST, is the definite choice. With 17-inch steel wheels, vinyl upholstery, vinyl floor covering and 40/20/40-split front bench seat, the basics are easily covered. Also included is a six-speaker stereo with CD player and auxiliary audio jack.

The next stop on the 2011 lineup of the Ram 1500 is the SLT trim. The SLT is a great choice if you want the basics in upscale form. Wheels change from 17-inch steel to 17-inch alloy, floor coverings are carpeted instead of vinyl, and upholstery also ditches the vinyl and instead comes in cloth. Chrome exterior trim is added for more intriguing styling. The SLT also gains:

  • Heated exterior mirrors

  • Cruise control

  • Full power accessories

  • Power-sliding rear window

  • Keyless entry

Electronics also get a boost with the addition of a trip computer and satellite radio.

If you want to add a sports element to your Ram 1500, the Sport trim is your golden ticket. The Sport trim houses a larger V8 engine, which provides more power. It also features a dual exhaust system, body-colored grille, impressive 20-inch chrome wheels, foglamps and unique bucket seats. The Sport also gets niceties like auto-dimming rear- and side-view mirrors, a 10-way power driver seat and split-folding rear seat with under-seat storage. The electronics in the Sport are also nicely enhanced with the inclusion of a touchscreen display, Bluetooth connectivity and upgraded audio system with CD/DVD/MP3 player, USB port, HD radio and 30 GB hard drive.

For the most impressive 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 – inside and out – the top-level Laramie is the obvious choice. Featuring all of the wow-worthy content found in the Sport trim, the Laramie also includes:

  • Power-folding exterior mirrors

  • Rear park assist

  • Power-adjustable pedals

  • Driver memory functions

  • Leather upholstery

  • Dual-zone automatic climate control

  • Heated front seats

  • Heated steering wheel

  • Remote start engine

  • Fender flares

  • Upgraded audio with subwoofer

The Laramie also shows off extra aesthetic features, like two-tone paint, additional exterior chrome trim and wood-grain chrome interior trim.

Powertrains and Towing

The 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 provides strength in power and towing – two elements that are most sought-after in a pickup truck. Depending on trim level, the 2011 Ram 1500 houses one of three engines: 3.7-liter V6, 4.7-liter V8 or 5.7-liter V8. Which engine will serve you best? Here are some stats.

  • 3.7-liter V6: 4-speed automatic transmission: 215 horsepower/235 pound-feet of torque

  • 4.7-liter V8: 5-speed automatic transmission: 310 horsepower/330 pound-feet of torque

  • 5.7-liter V8: 5-speed automatic transmission: 390 horsepower/407 pound-feet of torque

Maximum towing capacity for the 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 stands at 10,250 pounds.
